Villages, history and seafood cuisine

Visit three villages; get to know the local marine culture and regional seafood cuisine. This half day tour will allow you to enjoy the beautiful scenery, the local history and the pure seafood in the Westfjords. The Westfjords are pretty remote and tradition and fish heritage play a large role in the region's culture. The strong relation to the ocean is evident wherever you go and the regional seafood cuisine will blow the taste buds out of your mouth. At the beginning of the journey we go to the oldest fishing station in Iceland, Osvor Bolungarvik. From there we go to the small and eco-friendly fishing village Sudureyri where everything is about fish. We will enjoy a Seafood Trail where we will visit a local fish processing plant, and learn about how we process first class fish products in this thriving community. After mid-day we will drive to and enjoy a short walk around the scenic town Isafjordur where we will end the journey by visiting the Maritime Museum, an 18th century houses full of stories.
